It’s the first time since 2011 and third time overall in league play that Big 12 baseball has regular season co-champions. With a 9-4 Saturday win over Kansas, Tech finishes at 16-8 in Big 12 play and shares the title with TCU. With the April series win over the Horned Frogs, Texas Tech also clinches the No. 1 seed in the Big 12 Baseball Championship later this week in Oklahoma City.

- A great season for the West Texas A&M baseball team came to an end last night in the South-Central Region Tournament in San Angelo.  After staying alive with a win over Angelo State on Saturday, the Buffs couldn’t muster enough offense in a 3-1 loss to Arkansas-Fort Smith yesterday. WT ends their season with an overall record of 36-18.

- In high school baseball, Amarillo High and Randall continued playoff runs with series sweeps in the Regional Quarterfinals.  The Sandies rolled past Lubbock Coronado 12-0 on Saturday to win the series 2-games to none, while the Raiders edged Abilene Cooper 2-0 on Saturday to advance.

In the Regional semifinals this week, Amarillo High will meet defending state champion Grapevine. That series will start on Thursday at Abilene Christian University. Randall will take on Colleyville Heritage at a time and site to still be determined.

Bushland’s season ended with a loss to Levelland in the 4A regional quarters.

- Canyon softball team was very impressive in knocking out defending 5A state champion Birdville.  The Lady Eagles won the opener 3-0 before closing out the sweep with a 9-8 win in Game two. That avenged last season’s loss in the playoffs to Birdville. The Lady Eagles are now just one step away from the state tournament and will play El Paso Chapin in the Regional Championship at Ratliff Stadium in Odessa this week in a best of three game series starting Thursday.

- The UIL boys golf state tournament begins today in Austin. Happy and Fort Elliott boys teams will play in the 1A tournament at the Lions Municipal Golf Course. John-Payton Freeman of White Deer, Trayton McLain of Nazareth, and Dakota Weinette of Booker will take part in the medalist competition.

Vega is the lone team from the area in the 2A Tournament at the Roy Kizer Golf Course. Saylem Maddox of Memphis will compete as an individual in the 2A tournament.

In Class 4A, Bryce Parker of Pampa will play on the Apple Rock Golf Course at Horseshoe Bay, Marble Falls.

- Mike Napoli homered and Yu Darvish beat Detroit yet again, helping the Texas Rangers to a 5-2 victory over the Tigers Sunday night. Darvish has won all seven of his starts against the Tigers, although this one was a bit of a struggle. He allowed two runs and five hits over five innings.

-  The Cleveland Indians won over the Houston Astros 8-6 Sunday and complete a three-game sweep. The Indians are 5-1 against Houston this season, dealing the Astros two of their three series losses.

-- LeBron James' frustrating night kept going after one of the worst playoff games of his great career.

James exchanged words with a fan late Sunday night after the Boston Celtics stormed back from a 21-point deficit in the third quarter and shocked the Cleveland Cavaliers 111-108 in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals. Avery Bradley's 3-pointer with less than a second left won it for the Celtics, as they held James to just 11 points.

- Billy Horschel won the AT and T Byron Nelson with a par on the first playoff hole Sunday after Jason Day pulled his 4-foot par putt left and past the hole. The playoff wrapped up the Nelson's 35th and final tournament in Irving. The event will shift next year to the new links-style Trinity Forest Golf Club south of downtown Dallas.
