Layoffs Hit Bell Helicopter In Amarillo

Bell Helicopter has laid off 80 employees from their Amarillo location.

Company wide Bell is laying off 320 employees.  The lay-offs are being attributed to mandatory defense spending cuts at the federal level.  With fewer orders this left Bell with few options.

It had been known for some time that the cuts were coming.  Bell offered some employees a volunteer separation package.  30 people took advantage of the plan in the spring.
