Amarillo phone scam sees caller impersonating officer.

Another phone scam is making the rounds in Amarillo.

The Potter County Sheriff's Office and the Amarillo Police Department both received reports of the scam. The caller is using an 806-200 phone number. When the call is answered the caller claims he's with the Sheriff's office.

The scammer goes on the tell the victim that they've missed a court summons and owe the department money, $485.19 for court costs and $468 for a Failure to Appear charge. The caller then tells the victim the should buy a Green Dot Money Pack for the funds and to give them the activation number/transaction code and this gives the scammer access to the funds.
