When it comes to rivalries, WT versus Midwestern State is usually one of the best in any sport in the Lone Star Conference.

Thursday night in Canyon, WT got a rare basketball sweep over Midwestern.

The #2 Lady Buffs used a big second half to remain unbeaten with a 64-46 win over the Lady Mustangs. WT’s defense held Midwestern State to just six points in the 4th quarter to pull away. After shooting just 24 percent in the first half, the Lady Buffs found their range in the 2nd half, hitting 66 percent from the field. Madison Parker just missed a double-double with 13 points and 9 rebounds as WT improved to 13-0 on the season and 5-0 in the Lone Star Conference.

The No. 11 West Texas A&M men’s basketball team had five players in double figures and two double-doubles en route to a hard-fought 83-76 victory over visiting Midwestern State.  WT won its 28th-straight home game improving to 13-1 overall and 3-1 in Lone Star Conference play. David Chavlovich and Gauge Prim each had 17 points as Prim recorded his fourth double-double of the season with 12 rebounds. Ryan Quaid had 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Buffs.
