Yesterday, headlines made most of us recoil in horror regarding how much urine is in most public pools. Yeah, there's a lot of people out there who are using the pool as their own bathtub/toilet.

A doctor was quoted yesterday as saying that "On average, there is one to three ounces of urine per person in the pool." Freaking gross.

She also stated that 30-40% of adults admit to going "tinkle" in the pool. Even worse, the smell that most of us associate with the pool isn't the chlorine, it's the chlorine reacting with the urine.

I've never been a big fan of going to the public pool. They're usually way too crowded for my taste, plus there is my own paranoia when it comes to how much pee is in the water.

The doc did say that the chlorine kills most germs quickly, but you should still shower after. I might recommend showering twice just to be sure.

If you're looking for an alternative to the pool, I personally enjoy just running a hot bath and grabbing a six-pack. I don't have to deal with people doing cannonballs, obnoxious lifeguards, and nobody is relieving themselves in the water. Plus, I get to take a six-pack with me.
