Hidden Camera Found In Amarillo Business Restroom

Amarillo authorities are urging the public to be extra observant after a hidden camera was discovered in a local businesses restroom.

The name of the business is being withheld to protect the owners who are not considered suspects in the case.  The camera was discovered in the restroom by an employee on Sunday.  The camera was hidden in a fake aerosol air freshener air unit.  The employee removed the camera and called police.

The camera was wireless and didn't appear to have any way of transmitting information. Captured footage was saved to a memory card inside the camera and filmed continuously.

It is against the law to record people in a place where they have an expectation of privacy.  When and if a suspect is apprehended they are looking at a fairly stiff penalty.  A penalty of up to 2 years in jail and up to a $10,000.
