Fight Leads To Evacuation Of Maverick Boys And Girls Club

A fight around 5:45pm Tuesday across the street from the Maverick Boys and Girls club yesterday led to the club being evacuated.

Witnesses at the Maverick Boys and Girls Club reported to police they saw a fight across the street and heard gunshots being fired.  A witness told police they saw the suspect flee the scene in a silver Ford pickup at a high rate of speed.

Amarillo police eventually located the silver Ford, abandonded.  Inside the truck they found a gun and several rounds of rifle ammunition but no rifle.  A witness in the area reported they saw the suspect run into a camper in the 1900 block of South Buchanan.

Amarillo's SWAT team was called in and they searched two housed and trailers in the area of the fight and located one person in a camper.

The authorities believe three men to be involved and have all in custody.  The police are still investigating the incident and no charges have been filed at this time.
