Amarillo will host a few New Year's Eve events suitable for the whole family this year.

New Year's Eve is typically associated with glamorous parties, flowing champagne, and very late nights/early mornings.

However, that image of New Year's Eve can be altered by the presence of kids. It can be extremely hard to find activities for the whole family that isn't just fun for the kids, but bearable for the adults.

Here are some of the New Year's Eve events in Amarillo that will help you and your kids celebrate in a fun way.

  • Noon Year's Eve at the Discovery Center

Instead of keeping your kids up all night waiting for the ball drop, you can take your kids to the Don Harrington Discovery Center from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. for games and activities centered around New Year's. They will be counting down to 12 (noon) with a balloon drop.

  • Happy Zoo Year at the Amarillo Zoo

The Amarillo Zoo will host a New Year's Eve celebration from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. There will be activities and special refreshments, and then a special ball drop for the lions at 12 (noon). This is a great way to get the kids outside on a holiday that is usually celebrated inside.

  • Amarillo Bulls Hockey Game at the Amarillo Civic Center

The Amarillo Bulls will play a special New Year's Eve game against Wichita Falls. The game will start at 7 p.m. and there will be special ticket prices starting at $5, with children getting in free. All fans will get a glow stick and party favors courtesy of the game's sponsor, Budweiser. Hot dogs will be $1. This is a safe and exciting way to celebrate New Year's Eve with the family.
