Another Erwin Pawn Trade-A-Thon is history  but that won't stop us from taking a look back at what you might have missed.

The the show that aspires to the altruistic goal of helping you turn your unwanted items in the cash you want attempted to serve you once again Saturday.  It's truly a symbiotic relationship because we have almost as fun doing it as you get utilizing it.

THE BIG QUESTION

We ask all our callers a poll question before they give their items.  It provides a running stream of thought during the show.  It also helps us learn a little bit about you.  Sometimes a heavy and topical question, this week we went light and fun.

It seems over the last few years many beverages have encroached on coffee's lofty perch as the top of morning beverages.  There are truly some serious challengers.  We decided to find out what your morning beverage of choice was.

What do you drink first thing in the morning?

Coffee 13

Water 8

Coke 5

Tea 2

Obviously coffee is still king but many are encroaching on its territory.

RULE #6

Along with the regular rules of how the show works which we discuss at the beginning of each hour, I always bring you a special Rule #6.  It changes every week.  Often it is inspired by something that happened to me over the previous week.  Other times it what I felt to be a particularly prescient thought.

Reputations are a tricky thing.  You might know of someone for years, never met them and feel like you know all about them based on what others have told you.  I've often discovered other peoples opinions about people I don't know and then meet to be radically disparate from my experience.

Over the last couple of months I found myself in just that situation.  I met and began working with some people I've been aware of since I moved to Amarillo but never had the pleasure to work with until recently.  These people's reputations proceeded them and like most reputations the positives and negatives change depending on the person giving their opinion.

And personally, I've done things that have affected my reputation and cast me in a less than flattering light.  Both of those thoughts reminded me of a rule I've tried to live by for years and felt it was a good time to share it with you.

Rule #6: Judge people by your own experience with them and not solely by their reputation, either good or bad.

People grow.  People mature. People change.  Everyone deserves a chance to be judged by their interactions with you and not by rumor or gossip you heard before you met them.

See you next Saturday for another Erwin Pawn Trade-A-Thon!
