There aren't many shows where you can oversleep by two hours and still get it on the air.

It's the program that invites you to call in and buy, sell, and trade every Saturday morning at 9am.  It's The Erwin Pawn Trade-A-Thon.  If you don't want to call, that's OK.  You can always kick back and take in the menagerie.

THE BIG QUESTION

We ask all our callers a poll question before they give their items.  It helps us get to know them a little better and provides a running stream of thought throughout the three hour extravaganza.

I usually get up around 4:30am Saturday mornings to get ready and prepare for the show.  This provides plenty of time to get all the Trade-A-Thon ducks in a row.  Unfortunately my alarm didn't go off Saturday morning and I woke up at 6:40am very confused.

That didn't leave much time to get things set and although not up to our usual standards, everything worked out fine.  We came, we bought, we sold.  It left us curious if you had suffered the same indignity so far this year.

Have you overslept in 2016?

Yes 12

No 16

Looks like I'm in fine company as nearly half of our callers overslept at least once this year.

RULE #6

We bring you the specific rules of the show at the beginning of each hour.  That way if it's your first time and don't know or if you're a seasoned vet that should know better, everyone is on the same page.  I also bring you a special Rule #6, that changes every week, inspired by something that happened to me over the previous week.  This week it happened Saturday morning.

I usually get up between 7a-8am during the week and Sunday's.  I don't need an alarm most days and I usually wake up right before it goes off.  Unfortunately my Saturday's start much earlier and my body usually isn't ready for it.  Difficulty can turn to tragedy if the alarm doesn't go off on Saturday morning.  Of course, if you're following along you know it didn't and it did ensue.

I was reminded that my usual procedure for getting up earlier usually includes setting two separate alarms.  That way I'm double protected in my endeavor to rise hours before the norm.  It sounded like the makings of a good rule and since I woke up over two hours late I didn't have time to come up with anything else!

Rule #6: When getting up at an odd time set two alarms.

Don't forget to join us the Saturday morning for another Erwin Pawn Trade-A-Thon on News Talk 940, KIXZ.
