Early Wednesday Fire

The Amarillo Fire Department had a busy morning.

Fire crews were called around 3:50am at the 4700 block of South Bonham.  Upon arrival crews found a single story residence .  An attached car port was on fire with it spreading to the house.  A vehicle in the car port also caught fire.

Crew had the fire under control by 4:20am.

The family was home when the fire started buy were awakened by smoke alarms that alerted everyone in time and all were able to escape without with no injuries.

The Amarillo Fire Marshal is still investigating the cause of the fire.

Damage estimates are around $70,000.
