We renewed our weekend tradition of bringing buyers and sellers together on Saturday.

It's The Erwin Pawn Trade-A-Thon, wants ads on the radio called in by people like you.  We do it every Saturday from nine to noon.

THE BIG QUESTION

We ask our callers a poll question before they give their listing.  It provides a running theme that ties the calls together.  Usually it's a this or that question and sometimes it's topical.  Occasionally we ask an open ended questions for no specific reason and that was the case this week.

I had a couple of donuts before the show.  I wasn't able to get my favorite, blueberry cake.  It got me to wondering what your favorite is.

What is your favorite type of donut?

Blueberry cake / Standard glazed 8

Maple 6

Chocolate 4

Cherry / Bear Claw / Apple Fritter / Cinnamon Roll 2

Lemon Jelly / Cinnamon Cake / Cream Filled 1

As expected, answers were all over the map.  I was surprised to see my favorite rank so highly.

RULE #6

I go over the rules of the program at the beginning of each hour.  This helps make sure everyone is on the same page and ready to sell.  Along with the regular five rules I always bring you a special Rule #6 that changes every week.  It is usually inspired by something that happened to me over the previous week.

Last Sunday I was invited to go out and have lunch with family.  On the way to the restaurant I got a call that the restaurant we were planning on going to was totally covered up.  I was told to go to the place next door, where there was no wait.

Driving by the first restaurant, I witnessed what they were talking about.  It was jam packed.  The place next door only had a couple cars in the lot.

As we ate it became obvious why the place was slow, the food was horrible!  As I choked down my lunch in an effort to be polite, I realized we had the makings of a good rule.

Rule #6 If the restaurant you wanted to eat at is too busy don't go to the slow one next door.

More sage advice and plenty of sellers next Saturday on Trade-A-Thon!
