WASHINGTON (AP) — A disagreement about same-sex marriage within former Vice President Dick Cheney's family is spilling into the public.

Daughter Liz Cheney, who is running in a Republican primary for a U.S. Senate seat from Wyoming, told "Fox News Sunday" she disagrees with her sister Mary Cheney, who is married to a woman, over the role of same-sex marriage. Mary Cheney responded on Facebook: "You're just wrong."

Liz Cheney, a former State Department official and co-author of her father's memoirs, is challenging incumbent Sen. Mike Enzi, a fellow Republican. Liz Cheney wants to win over conservatives in her primary scheduled for next August, and same-sex marriage has become an issue in her campaign.

The former vice president says he supports same-sex marriage in states that sanction it.
