Area ranchers are getting a little help this Christmas season from the Conservation Reserve Program.

Thanks to the drought, wheat is scarce.  This has forced many ranchers into liquidating their stock.  But help is on the way, thanks to CRP.

The CRP program was created to help keep easily erodible lands intact and was initiated in response to the Dust Bowl.  The CRP land lies fallow and the natural grass helps keep the dirt intact.

The Texas FSA State Committee has decided to allow grazing on CRP land that has not been used for haying or grazing the last two years.
