Car Fire Leads To Marijuana Bust On I-40

Friday night a DPS trooper encountered a car fire on I-40 near Groom, in Gray County.

The trooper observed a 2016 Hyundai Tuscon on fire with a female standing outside the vehicle.  The female had removed four gift wrapped boxes, a suitcase, and a dog from the vehicle.

During the investigation the DPS called in a canine unit.  The dog alerted on the boxes.  The trooper searched the boxes and discovered 28 vacuum sealed bundles of pot weighing 26 pounds.

The driver of the Hyundai, 47-year-old Judith Amerson of Lemoore, CA. was arrested and booked into the Gray County Jail.  She was charged with felony possession.

The marijuana was allegedly being transported to California from Illinois.
