FALFURRIAS, Texas (AP) — Border Patrol agents have rescued four immigrants from the South Texas brush while the remains of another person were discovered.

Agency officials late Wednesday announced two rescues in areas near the Falfurrias (fal-FYOO'-ree-uhs) checkpoint.

Authorities say two men from Honduras who were in the U.S. illegally were abandoned by a human smuggler. The men on Tuesday found and activated a Border Patrol beacon. Both declined medical attention after being located.

Border Patrol officials say two juveniles were found Tuesday after calling 911. Searchers used the cellphone signal to locate the pair near U.S. Highway 281.

All four immigrants were detained.

Skeletal remains of a person believed in the U.S. illegally were found on a ranch near the checkpoint. Officials did not immediately release information on cause of death or identity.
