Andy Rooney Leaving ’60 Minutes”, Final Show This Sunday

Andy Rooney is set to announce his departure from 60 Minutes this Sunday.

Maybe more than the show itself, the commentator whose career stretches back to World War II has been featured on the show since 1978.

CBS has commissioned studies to assess the impact of Rooney's departure.  It shows many would quit watching.  Why these same people just don't tune in at the end of the show remains unanswered.

His segment this week will be proceeded by a career retrospective with Morley Safer.  Rooney will make his announcement at the end of his regular essay.
