Abbee Jeffries completed the Boston Marathon in 3 hours, 36 minutes, and 58 seconds.

It has been three years since the Boston Marathon bombing, a tragic act of terrorism that killed and injured many people. However, the iconic 26-mile run has since gotten stronger than ever. Over 30,000 people signed up for the marathon this year and over 27,000 participated.

One of those participants was Abbee Jeffries, a teacher and coach at Caprock High School.

Jeffries overcame a huge obstacle to participate in the marathon. She was diagnosed with Chronic Nephrotic Syndrome, a kidney disorder that causes low protein levels in the blood and can lead to an edema. This disorder can be extremely dangerous, especially for an active runner.

However, Jeffries successfully finished the race.

The fastest runners finished the race in under 2 and a half hours. The average time for finishing the race is about 4 hours.
