Updating Amarillo's infrastructure does come at a cost.

Last night the Amarillo City Council approved financing for the final stretch of the Osage Pipeline Project.  City officials expect this to soon affect water bills.

Half of the project is under construction, from 24th to Osage.  The entire transmission line is around 14 miles long.  Tuesday's unanimous vote set the structure for financing the final 8 mile stretch.

The vote was the final approval of an over $17 million loan for the stretch from the Osage Water Treatment Plant to Arden Road.

Amarillo water rates are going up in October.  The increase is 3% with almost 2 and a half percent of that attributable to the loan for the final stretch of the Osage Pipeline Project.
