The Amarillo police force had a gracious message to share with their city.

Events that have taken place over the past year, including the deaths of Freddie Gray, Michael Brown, Alton Sterling, and five police officers in Dallas, have increased tensions between police and their communities. The instant accessibility of information on social media has only amplified these tensions.

However, the Amarillo Police Officer's Association decided to use social media for something much more positive.

On Thursday, August 18th, a video was posted on YouTube that showed Amarillo police officers thanking their community for the "surge in public support."

Sargent Carla Burr introduces the video, then you see shots of officers of all ages, duties, and levels of experience saying, "Thank you, Amarillo!"
