A woman was found dead under a car in Amarillo on Monday.

The Amarillo Police Department arrived in Northeast Amarillo after a fight broke out next to Travis Middle School. They said that Kristen King was under a vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the police, a witness saw someone trying to run King over before officials arrived.

Several people were detained at the scene.

The Special Crimes Unit said that Ralph Owens was booked this morning for the murder. He has been accused of driving the vehicle used to run over King. They said that Owens hit a second woman with the vehicle, but her injuries were not life threatening.

According to Facebook, King and Owens were in a relationship.

The Potter County Justice of the Peace ordered an autopsy to be done in Lubbock.

2016 has been a bad year for Amarillo as far as crime goes. Last month, three people were indicted for a murder that occurred in January. Yesterday, two people were injured in a shooting at an Amarillo pool hall.
