An Amarillo man was arrested Saturday after allegedly intentionally running over his wife.

Amarillo police were called to the area of NW 5th and N Monroe on a hit-and-run incident around 9:30pm on Saturday.

Arriving officers found a 42-year old woman lying in the road with a head injury.  The victim and witnesses told police the driver of the vehicle that hit her was a silver Buick LeSabre driven by the victims husband.  He had fled the scene by the time officers arrived.  The woman sustained the head injury when her head struck the pavement.

The APD also reports the suspect tried to run over a male pedestrian.  The man was able to avoid the vehicle.

The woman was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

APD located the vehicle and the suspect, 54-year old Namon Earl Timmer in the 1800 block of Oak Drive.
