Amarillo Handheld Cell Phone Driving Ban In Force January 3rd

Your window to purchase a blue tooth hands free device for your automobile in Amarillo is closing.

This ordinance has been passed and signs have been posted to all entrances to the city.  The rule is simple, go hands free by January 3rd or face a warning citation from Amarillo police.  Be hands free by February or you'll get a ticket.

According to TxDot, distracted driving ranks in the top three causes of traffic fatalities in Amarillo last year.  The new ordinance aims to lower the danger.
