Progress towards the new baseball stadium, also known as the MPEV is gaining momentum.

The downtown multi-purpose event venue will house the new baseball team and other events to be determined.  It wasn’t immediately clear how the city would fund construction of the facility.  Yesterday the Amarillo City Council addressed that issue.

The council authorized the issuance of more than $38 million in bonds to fund construction.  The city also passed a reimbursement resolution that allows the city to be reimbursed for expenditures the city will take on in the short term to fast track construction.

It is hoped these two moves will lead to work beginning at the site the first week of March.
