On Monday evening Amarillo police officers were working a wreck on the I-40 - I-27 interchange.

Officer Logan Landrum was directing traffic in the area.   He had stepped into his patrol car for a moment when it was stuck behind by another vehicle.

Officer Logan was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  He was treated and released.

The other driver was not injured but officers said he showed signs of intoxication.  He was booked into the Potter County Sheriff's Office Jail for intoxicated assault.

The incident is being investigated by the Traffic Investigation Squad.
