Sunday night a traffic stop turned into a wrecked police car and two DWI arrests.

Amarillo police pulled over a vehicle early morning around 1:30am in the 1500 block of I-40 for an unspecified traffic violation.  The officer initiated contact with the driver.  After a short exchange the officer returned to his cruiser.
While the officer was in his car a second vehicle failed to stop or yield for the traffic stop and plowed into the rear end of the police cruiser.  Both cars sustained major damage.  The driver of the second car was allegedly found to be intoxicated.  Hmling Blak was arrested and charged with Drive While Intoxicated and booked into the Potter County Detention Center.
While the investigation of the incident was ongoing a third driver drove through a cone barricade set up to detour traffic and sped past several emergency vehicles with their emergency lights activated.  The third driver almost hit a second police car before swerving and driving off.  Police pursued.
Luis Gonzalez was stopped in the 1600 block of I-40 and also arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.  He too was booked into Potter County.
