AHS Volleyball Coach Now TGCA Hall of Fame Member

If anyone deserves to be in the Texas Girls Coaches Association Hall of Fame, it’s Amarillo High volleyball coach Jan Barker.

Barker was honored in Lubbock on Monday at the TGCA Awards Banquet as one of three new Hall of Fame members, for good reason. She turned the Amarillo High volleyball program into one of the best in the state during her 30 years as head coach.

So far during Barker’s tenure, her coaching record is 1077 – 167 while leading the Lady Sandies to 10 state championships. In 2016, Barker was named the American Volleyball Coaches Association National Coach of the Year. The Lady Sandies’ program has produced 14 All-Americans, 77 collegiate players, 34 Division-One players and two pro players under Barker.
