A New Affordable Way to Have Your Pet Microchipped
If you have a pet then your pet should have a microchip. This is one of the most important decisions you should make as a pet owners. Collars come off and tags fall off and if your pet is microchipped you can still be found.
All of my animals are microchipped and I'm still waiting for the day I get that phone call, "Hi, is this Lori Crofford....we found your cat." My cat Lemmy disappeared 7 months ago and I'm still holding out hope, I'll get that phone call one day because he is microchipped.
If your pet isn't microchipped then you can take them to the Amarillo Animal Management and Welfare office and have them microchipped.
What is a microchip? According to the Amarillo Animal Management and Welfare website:
The microchip is a tiny computer chip which has an identification number programmed into it. The chip is encased in a smooth, strong biocompatible glass, and is small enough to fit into a hypodermic needle. Once an animal is injected with the chip, this one-of-a-kind number can identify it throughout his life. The identification cannot be lost, altered or intentionally removed.
They have made it to where microchipping is very affordable. They have new pricing on their microchips.
For $10 you can get a Slim Line microchip for small breeds and $5 for a regular plus gauge microchips with free lifetime registration.
It's never a good thing when your pet goes missing, it is heartbreaking. Don't leave it to chance keep them safe by making sure they have a microchip.
