BOSTON (AP) — The son of a man killed by James "Whitey" Bulger is calling him "Satan" and a "domestic terrorist" as the Boston gangster prepares to be sentenced for a string of killings.

Sean McGonagle is the son of Bulger victim Paul McGonagle. He was the first of at least a dozen family members expected to speak at Bulger's two-day sentencing hearing, which started Wednesday.

Prosecutors are seeking two consecutive life sentences for the 84-year-old. He was convicted in August in a broad indictment that included racketeering charges in a string of murders in the 1970s and '80s, as well as extortion, money-laundering and weapons charges.

McGonagle also called Bulger a sad, lonely and irrelevant old man.

Bulger can speak at his sentencing if he wants to, but it's not known if he will.
