The Scholarship and Awards Program and Ag Day Celebration weekend will be September 9-10.

West Texas A&M offers one of the best agriculture programs in the area. The Department of Agricultural Sciences gives out hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of scholarships every year to high-achieving students with impressive academics and extracurricular activities. But without the help of generous donors and loyal alumni, none of that would be possible.

To show their appreciation, the department hosts an annual celebration for students, alumni, and donors.

The Scholarship and Awards Program will take place on Friday, September 9th, at Legacy Hall. Awards for donors and distinguished alumni will be given and 350 students will be recognized.

The Ag Day Celebration will be on Saturday, September 10th, at Nance Ranch. There will be a live and silent auction, lunch provided, and the announcement of Buffalo Award winners. The Buffalo Award is given to 'individuals or groups that have made significant contributions to the mission of the department.'

The mission of the department is:

The mission of the Department of Agricultural Sciences is to provide excellence in teaching, research, and professional service in the major areas we serve and, ultimately, to prepare students for employment by providing them with a skill-set that will make them successful now and into the future, regardless of their chosen path.
