The City of Amarillo faced a pump failure and a waste water spill on Tuesday.

Around 150,000 gallons of waste water was released at about 8:30am yesterday morning when multiple pumps failed at a city waste water collection facility.  The spill flowed into a pasture at a lift station located at 7100 Cliffside.  Crews were able to get one of the pumps working again around 11:30am.

City officials state the waste water was a mixture of domestic, commercial and industrial waste.  The affected area has been cleaned and disinfected.  Around 4,000 gallons of the spill was recovered and put back into the collection system.
