Virgin American Names Plane With Steve Jobs Inspired Name
If Steve Jobs is browsing the internet from Heaven he is probably smiling today.
Virgin Atlantic has a history of naming its planes eclectic names. This follows the tradition of its eclectic founder Richard Branson.
With names like "Superfly", "Air Colbet" and Virgin & Tonic" the name that winks and nods at Steve Jobs is appropriately hip. The plane is called "Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish" after remarks Jobs made at a commencement address he made at Stanford University in 2005.
"When I was young, there was an amazing publication called The Whole Earth Catalog, which was one of the bibles of my generation. It was created by a fellow named Stewart Brand not far from here in Menlo Park, and he brought it to life with his poetic touch. This was in the late 1960's, before personal computers and desktop publishing, so it was all made with typewriters, scissors, and Polaroid cameras. It was sort of like Google in paperback form, 35 years before Google came along: it was idealistic, and overflowing with neat tools and great notions."
If you happen to find yourself on this plan, you'll know why the pilots may remain foolish.
