Veteran Who Has Two Towels Left Inside His Body After Cancer Surgery Gets $275,000
A United States Veteran has received a settlement in the amount of $275,000 after having two towels left inside his body after having a cancerous kidney removed.
Robert Sanner, 47, reported feeling pain and discomfort in the days following a surgery to remove cancer. He returned to the hospital 3 times before he final underwent a CAT scan in which the towels were discovered. The towels measured 14x11 inches.
The hospital acknowledged their mistake and removed the towels the day that they were discovered. Sanner's Attorney reported that the hospital actually tried to avoid performing a third surgery to repair a hernia that was caused by the previous two surgeries.
"They fought us tooth and nail," McLaughlin said.
