Veteran Who Has Two Towels Left Inside His Body After Cancer Surgery Gets $275,000
A United States Veteran has received a settlement in the amount of $275,000 after having two towels left inside his body after having a cancerous kidney removed.
Robert Sanner, 47, reported feeling pain and discomfort in the days following a surgery to remove cancer. He returned to the hospital 3 times before he final underwent a CAT scan in which the towels were discovered. The towels measured 14×11 inches.
The hospital acknowledged their mistake and removed the towels the day that they were discovered. Sanner’s Attorney reported that the hospital actually tried to avoid performing a third surgery to repair a hernia that was caused by the previous two surgeries.
“They fought us tooth and nail,” McLaughlin said.
