Bureau Of Alcohol, Tobacco, And Firearms Hosts Media To Highlight Its Effort In High Profile Cases

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) — An updated $6 million state crime lab has opened in Southeast Texas to handle evidence for more than 20 counties.

Ceremonies were held Wednesday in Corpus Christi at the latest Texas Department of Public Safety evidence processing lab. Authorities say the more than 18,000-square-foot lab includes a firearms testing range.

The new lab replaces a 4,600-square-foot facility. Nueces County in 2008 donated the land for the site, which is one of 13 DPS crime lab statewide.
