TYLER, Texas (AP) — Police in East Texas are investigating at least two cases in which a woman flashed a badge, lied about being an officer and robbed someone.

Tyler police have appealed to the public for help in identifying the suspect, who was not in uniform.

Police say the latest incident happened Sunday night at a car wash. A woman showed a badge and demanded to search a man's car. The woman stole his wallet and cellphone from the vehicle.

The first robbery happened Oct. 7. Grocery store surveillance video shows a woman in shorts and a shirt making a purchase.

Police believe the woman later approached a man outside and asked for $10. He refused. The suspect showed a badge, said she was a police officer and took the victim's wallet.
