Former SC Gov. Mark Sanford And Elizabeth Colbert Busch Face Off In Special ElectionTwo petitions have been submitted to the City of Amarillo with hopes of landing those issues on a ballot.

Both petitions were organized by William Sumerford.  He hopes to push a couple of issues to a vote.  The first challenges the city's drainage fee.  The second would limit the growth of city government.

If the signatures are validated, city commissioners would have to vote on whether to put the issues on the November ballot.

The group that submitted a petition to send the hand held device while driving ban has failed due to invalid signatures.

There are no deadlines for petitions although groups with issues for the November election must have validated and approved petitions by August 20th.
