The cost of getting higher education locally may be on the rise.

Tuition and fees for West Texas A&M could be increasing for the 2015 fiscal year.  Currently tuition and mandates cost about $3,484 a semester for a full time student.  With the increases the cost would rise to $3,650 for incoming freshmen.

The proposed increases would be hikes in transportation, accreditation and advising.  Also included is a four year tuition cost guarantee.

School officials say the increases are needed to help accommodate a student population that is seeing above average growth.
