Tuesday may have been Election Day in the US, but to our friends in the Great White North it was a day for one notorious politician to speak to voters about a big controversy.

Toronto Mayor Rob Ford has finally admitted he smoked crack. Allegations he had done so had been dogging him for months, along with reports there was a tape of him smoking the drug.

During a hastily-arranged press conference, Ford said, "Yes, I have smoked crack cocaine," adding he had done so "probably during one of my drunken stupors."

However, Ford was quick to add he is neither a drug addict nor an alcoholic and that he has no plans to step down.
