The project is for the collection of wastewater and will improve the collection of the water in this area.  The city will be able to remove a lift station in Austin Park.  Here is an update of where the project stands.  As of now it is ahead of schedule.

  • Tunneling is underway from Pit #4 north of Virginia and Georgia, to Pit #5, north of 26th and Georgia.
  • Tunneling from Pit #5 towards the southeast towards Pit #6’s location is underway.
  • Excavation of Pit #6 will begin on Tuesday, July 7. This is the connection point to existing lines, located at the southeast corner of 26th Street and Georgia Street.
  • Pit #2 piping and manhole installation are installed and backfilling of Pit #2 will follow.

The construction continues.  Just keep in mind if you are driving on Georgia to be extra cautious in the construction areas.  Slow down and look for construction crews.

Expected completion is on or before December 20, 2015.
