The Erwin Pawn Trade-A-Thon Would Like It With Butter, Please
We had another gainful Saturday of buying and selling on The Erwin Pawn Trade-A-Thon.
It's the show that turns the airwaves over to you, allowing you to turn the items you no longer want into much needed cash. We do it every Saturday morning and you are invited to call or just listen. You never know when you'll hear something listed you just can't live without.
THE BIG QUESTION
We ask all our callers a poll question before they give their items. It provides a theme for discussion and helps tie the calls together. It also helps up better get to know you and hear your opinion or thoughts on the subject.
Oftentimes our question is related to food. I remember my family switching from butter to margarine when I was 12 or 13. I think it had to do mainly with the assertion margarine was healthier for you. We were big Shed's Spread Country Crock consumers.
When I got out on my own I rediscovered butter. I don't know what we were thinking by making the switch. Butter is much better, in my opinion. We were curious what your preference was.
Which do you prefer, butter or margarine?
Many had similar stories as mine, the family switching to margarine around 30 years ago and rediscovering butter yeas later. It seems like the science will tell us something is bad and decades later reveal it's not as bad as they thought.
Along with the regular rules of the program that we discuss at the beginning of each hour, I always bring you a special rule #6. It changes each week and is sometimes inspired by something that happened to me over the previous week.
Last week I discovered a close friend of mine had not been as forthcoming on some issues as I would have expected. In fact, this friend blatantly lied to me about something.
True friends are difficult to come by. In this era where the definition of "friend" has been somewhat redefined by Facebook it's easy to take for granted our real life friends. And if a person has accepted you as their friend it's usually because you have plenty in common, both in lifestyle and morals. Your friends are the last people you should be dishonest with as they represent your support system. A system each one of us needs. Don''t damage that system by being dishonest with it.
Rule #6: Don't lie to your friends.
That's all for this week, my friend. We'll see you next Saturday for another Erwin Pawn Trade-A-Thon!
