Over the weekend I once again held court on The Erwin Pawn Trade-A-Thon.

It's the show that invites you to call in and advertise the belongings you no longer need for sale to get the cash money you desperately do.  From autos to appliances, furniture to tools, we've helped countless callers with countless items over the years.  And we'll do it again this Saturday.

Join us from 9am-Noon for classified ads on the radio.  It's free to call in and even cheaper to listen.

THE BIG QUESTION

We try to keep things interesting from call to call.  Let's be honest; some people are better on the radio than others.  And if the particular item being advertised for sale isn't something you're in the market for we created a way to tie all the calls together in focus of a central theme.

It's called the Big Question and it's a simple poll and solicitation of opinion from our callers.  Sometimes this or that, yes or no, and occasionally an open ended question, we took this week's straight from the headlines.

You may have heard Bobby Lee of the Big Texan has gone public with plans to aggrandize the Big Texan further than it already is.  One idea being considered is rebuilding a totally new Big Texan with a facility that would include a water park.

An interesting idea although it remains to be seen if these two great tastes will taste great together.  I know the first thing I want after downing a 72 ounce steak is some quality time at the deep end of the pool.

It got us to thinking which you would prefer, a water park or a steak house.

Bobby Lee of The Big Texan is attempting to cross a steak house with a water park.  Which do you prefer?

Steak House 15

Water Park 6

No surprise that folks in this area would prefer a steak house over a water park.  All of us at KIXZ wish Bobby Lee and The BIg Texan success with this interesting idea.

RULE #6

At the beginning of each hour we recite the official rules of The Erwin Pawn Trade-A-Thon.  It helps set the stage for the hour's calls and helps keep newbies and veterans alike aware of how the show works.

We have five standard rules and along with those I always bring you a special Rule #6.  It changes every week and is usually inspired by something that happened to me or I observed over the previous week.

Spring has officially sprung but the skies don't look to be opening up anytime soon.  The potential for fires across the Golden Spread is high.  There are so ways you can protect yourself.

One way is to keep vegetation and potential fuel for a fire away from your home.  If possible it is recommended you create a 30 foot wide perimeter around your home clear from vegetation or other potential fuel.

Rule #6: Clear a 30 foot perimeter around your house to help protect it from wildfires.

Join us this Saturday from 9-Noon when we'll reset the pins, lay out the table, and serve you another Erwin Pawn Trade-A-Thon on News Talk 940, KIXZ!
