The show that turns the airwaves over to you had another successful outing over the weekend.

We do it every Saturday morning on KIXZ and you're invited to call in or sit back and listen.  It's a participatory show and your call is always welcome.   We bring buyers and sellers together and expect you to be one or the other!

THE BIG QUESTION

We ask our callers a poll question before they give their items.  It provides for a running stream of thought through the show.

Local elections were contested on Saturday.  When the vote is for municipal contests only many people skip out on voting, oftentimes because they mistakenly believe their vote doesn't count.

Based on population numbers for Randall and Potter counties, the number of registered voters and the average number of those actually voting, citizens couldn't be more wrong about whether or note their vote is important.  Looking at the relevant statistics for the 2011 and 2013 elections, a vote cast in those races counted 20 times per resident and 8 times among registered voters.  Either way you look at it, your vote counts. A lot.  We were curious if you were voting.

Have you or will you be voting today?

Yes 19

No 7

Based on the numbers, 50% of our responders were not being entirely forthcoming about their intention to vote.  Or The Erwin Pawn Trade-A-Thon is utilized primarily by people who vote.  Incidentally, we have more people listening to the show every Saturday than the number of people who cast ballots in local elections.

RULE #6

Along with the regular rules of the program presented at the beginning of each hour, we always bring you a special Rule #6.  It changes every week, sometimes inspired by a thought I had during the week.  This week I kept with the election theme.  I found a quote from Franklin Roosevelt about voting that seemed the perfect companion for our Big Question.

Rule #6 Nobody will ever deprive the American people of the right to vote except the American people themselves and the only way they could do this is by not voting.

Hope to hear from you this Saturday on The Erwin Pawn Trade-A-Thon!
