The Erwin Pawn Trade-A-Thon Elects President Reagan
It was another Saturday of bringing buyers and sellers together on News Talk 940.
The Erwin Pawn Trade-A-Thon is the show that invites you to call in to list for sale items you have but no longer want and still have value. It's a re-seller's paradise and should be one of the many tools in your reselling toolbox.
THE BIG QUESTION
We ask all our callers a poll question before they give their listing. It helps us get to know them a little better and provides for a running theme throughout the show. Sometimes its about food and other times it is simply and silly. This week we went the topical route.
Being President's Day weekend we were curious who your favorite president was. We didn't ask "the best", we asked "favorite", because there is definitely a difference between the two, or could be.
Who is your favorite president?
Washington / Lincoln 5 each
Obama / Truman 2 each
FDR, Kennedy, and George W each got a vote.
Plus a vote for former President of Texas, Sam Houston.
I voted Reagan but was happy to see a vote for Houston. I didn't specify so the vote was completely acceptable.
We go over the five regular rules of the program at the beginning of each hour. It helps everyone stay on the same page and provides an outline for how the show works. Along with the regular rules, I always bring you a special Rule #6 that changes every week.
Sometimes inspired by something I heard or something something I said over the previous week, this time it happened Saturday morning as I was leaving for the show.
I had gotten dinner the night before and there were a couple of beverages still in the vehicle. My hands were full when I got home and I decided to leave them inside overnight. As I was leaving for the station I decided it was a good time to throw away the drinks.
I got back to the vehicle and quickly realized my keys were missing. I looked all over for them. I had used them to get in the vehicle to get the cokes before throwing them away. It then dawned on me the only possible place they could be.
In the dumpster.
After diving into the dumpster to find them one time and after dropping them inside again trying to get out, and after diving into the dumpster a second time, I finally had the keys, was ready to leave to do the show, and had plenty of inspiration for that show's Rule #6.
Rule #6: Have only trash in your hand when throwing things away.
See you next Saturday for another Erwin Pawn Trade-A-Thon!
