Due to severely freezing temperatures rolling into the area tomorrow and stay for the entire weekend, the Electric Light Parade in Amarillo has been cancelled.

This would have been the 18th annual Electric Light Parade that draws thousands of people to line Polk Street for the festivities. Here's what the center city officials had to say about it.

“We felt it wouldn’t be safe for families to come downtown,” she said, citing the likelihood of ice forming on Amarillo roads. “As far as I know we’ve never had to cancel the parade).” via AGN

No word as to whether the parade has been rescheduled, but we'll keep you up to date.
