Texas lawmakers will have to wait another 30 days to return to their districts after Gov. Perry calls a special session.

Just minutes after the regular 140 day session ended the governor decided the extra 30 days were needed.  The main issue he expects to be resolved is a vote on redistricting the state voting maps which have been challenged in court since 2011.

Gov. Perry could add more issues later.  Lt. Gov David Dewhurst would like to see abortion limits, gun bills and school choice measures added to the states congressional docket.

The House and Senate signed off on 955 bills this session.  Gov. Perry has signed 197 into law, vetoed two and allowed four to become law without his signature. The governor has three weeks to sign the remaining bills or they automatically become law.
