It's another battle between the states, although this one won't pit half the country against the other.  This one is only between Texas and New Mexico.

There has been an ongoing dispute between the two states concerning water rights from the Rio Grande river.  The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality filed on Tuesday after negotiations with New Mexico came to a standstill.

The commission claims New Mexico is violating a 1938 compact that governs how water from the Rio Grande is shared between Texas, New Mexico and Colorado.

Texas is accusing New Mexico of diverting surface and underground water from the river which takes away water from residents and farmers in Texas.

New Mexico has not responded to the suit or the allegations.
