SAN ANTONIO (AP) — A drunken driver has pleaded no contest to murder charges in the deaths of his wife and four sons, who died last year after he lost control of his car and slammed into a bulldozer.

The San Antonio Express-News (http://bit.ly/17oWoOf ) reports Larry William Demers entered the plea Tuesday. The 36-year-old was ordered to serve five concurrent 30-year sentences for the deaths of his 31-year-old wife and their four sons, ages 1, 4, 8 and 9.

He must serve at least 15 years before he can apply for parole.

Demers initially was charged with quintuple intoxication manslaughter, but the charges were upgraded to felony murder because the deaths occurred while committing another felony — driving while intoxicated with a child younger than 15.
