New York has some of the strictest gun laws in the country.  It’s a fact some gun owners traveling to the state sometimes miss with incarcerating results. For one Tennessee medical student at least, jail has been avoided.

Meredith Graves, 39 and a registered gun owner in Tennessee was visiting New York with her husband.  They decided to visit the 9/11 Memorial.  When she noticed a sign that said ‘no guns allowed’ she tried to check her handgun.

There is no such place to check a gun.  She was promptly arrested.

Her attorney negotiated a plea deal where she plead guilty to a misdemeanor and will only have probation.  This will allow her to still practice medicine in the field she chooses once she completes medical school.

Plaxico Burress needed a better attorney.
