Monday night a 17-year-old led Amarillo police in a high speed pursuit.

According to police, officers were sent to the scene of a large fight in the 1400 block of Southwest 12th Avenue around 9pm.  Upon arrival of the officers the crowd dispersed with on vehicle, a silver Ford Taurus fleeing the scene at a high rate of speed.

Witnesses told police the person fleeing the scene was one of the combatants and they gave pursuit.  The chase continued through the downtown area.

The DPS helicopter was called in to track the vehicle allowing the pursuing officers to back off in the name of public safety.

The helicopter followed the Taurus to the 400 block of Southwest 26th Avenue where the suspect was apprehended.

17-year-old Kendrik Gage Davis was booked into Potter County Jail for Evading Arrest in a Motor Vehicle.  The initial fight is still under investigation by police.
