Tascosa, Canyon Girls Advance in Playoffs

One game was close and one was not, but both Tascosa and Canyon girls basketball teams won playoff openers on Monday.

The Lady Rebels won a close one with El Paso Eastwood 53-50 to advance. Ka’Lia Smith scored 20 points, including 8 in the 4^th quarter to help the Lady Rebels erase a four-point deficit.

Canyon rolled to a 70-26 win over Abilene Cooper behind 22 points from Blaire Winings.

River Road girls fell out of the playoffs after losing to Shallowater 48-39.

Tonight, Amarillo High and Randall girls start the playoffs. The Lady Sandies get to play at home against Lubbock High while Randall meets Lubbock Cooper in Dimmitt.

The Bushland Lady Falcons will face Seminole tonight in a 4A bi-district contest at Wayland Baptist in Plainview.
